Inceptio Technology Expands To NorCal With An R&D Center
Chinese hi-tech firm developing next-generation commercial fleet trucks with autonomous driving technology opens new office in the U.S.
FREMONT, Calif., Feb. 25, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Inceptio Technology (Inceptio), a fast-growing autonomous driving technology company focusing on intercity logistic operation business, recently announced its U.S. expansion into Northern California.
Co-founded in 2018 by G7 Networks (G7), Asia's largest commercial vehicle management platform, Global Logistic Properties Ltd (GLP) and NIO Capital, Inceptio focuses on not only developing industry leading autonomous driving technologies for trucks, but also operating transportation services which utilize their own L3/L4 autonomous technologies. The new Fremont outfit will function as an autonomous driving technology research and development center, while also lending a supportive hand to the company's Shanghai initiatives: applying developed technologies and ensuring mass production of AI trucking fleet. Inceptio is also looking to further establish its flexible, nationwide service operation Logistics As A Service (LAAS) via autonomous trucks powered by the company's own technologies.
Inceptio is already creating ripples in the Chinese market. Last fall, Inceptio received an intercity road test license from the Baoding City Smart Transportation Demonstration City Leading Group, the first of its kind ever given. The first autonomous truck will eventually be tested in Baoding, Hebei Province. In addition, the company also recently completed its first smart truck leasing contract with Jinxin Logistics Co., Ltd. this past January.
"We aim to build a freight robot network and reach the L3 level of trucks as the first step, using technology to reduce the long term challenges so many of this industry faces – energy consumption, long distance driving dangers, and safety," said Julian Ma, CEO of Inceptio. "Redefining smart transportation equipment through new technologies and big data, as well as bringing innovation into asset management and 'asset-as-a-service' in the age of road transportation robots, represents both unprecedented opportunities and challenges to us."
Ma is a veteran of the intelligent mobility industry and previously served as the corporate vice president of Tencent Group. During his ten-year tenure at Tencent, he was responsible for the company's strategic development, Tencent Location Services (LBS), car networking and autonomous driving, and built the Tencent Autopilot team.
Ma added, "While AI technology is not primitive, Inceptio has realized the importance of applying new tech into trucking and logistics at an early stage. We have already begun the process of scaling Inceptio by increasing capital, hiring solid talent and partnering with external resources and networks. We are live and running in Fremont, which we are very excited about. We look forward to close collaboration with leading automotive groups, tier 1 suppliers, logistics companies, energy companies and financial institutions around the world to jointly push cross-field innovation."
Inceptio has nearly 100 employees in China and plans to gradually expand to 300 people by the end of 2019. The U.S. team is slated to hire 60 employees by the end of 2019. To learn more about Inceptio Technology and for career opportunities, please visit us here.
