Incapital Reaches $175 Million in Distribution of Calvert Foundation's Community Investment Notes
CHICAGO and BOCA RATON, Fla., Jan. 16, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Incapital announced today that over $175 million of Calvert Foundation's Community Investment Notes has been distributed through Incapital's network of broker-dealers and financial advisors. The Community Investment Note program became available through Incapital in November 2005, providing loans to highly effective organizations that develop or rehabilitate affordable homes, finance small businesses, provide essential community services and create jobs.
Incapital, a leading underwriter and distributor of fixed income and other financial products, has fully integrated Calvert Foundation's Community Investment Notes into its distribution channels, making them widely available through over 200 broker-dealers and thousands of financial advisors. Through this relationship, Community Investment Notes can be seamlessly integrated into an investor's portfolio, and are currently the only retail impact investment available on an electronic exchange.
"It is incredibly important to us to give back to our community and even more rewarding to do so in a way that connects investors to important causes," said Tom Ricketts, Chairman of Incapital. "Incapital's relationship with Calvert Foundation is a prime example of how the public and private sectors can come together to meet social needs and we are proud to be a catalyst for these organizations."
The impact created by the Community Investment Note spans a vast array of organizations and communities in need. It is estimated that these notes have created more than 200,000 jobs in the U.S. and in developing countries, helped to provide over 10,000 affordable homes, and supported more than 5,000 nonprofits, co-ops and social enterprises.
"Impact investing creates a virtuous circle of empowerment, opportunity, and engagement by connecting investors, underprivileged individuals, and communities," said Calvert Foundation President and CEO Lisa Hall. "We are grateful for Incapital's visionary role in moving the impact investment industry forward, and for their commitment to helping us make investment capital available to organizations providing jobs, affordable housing, education, small business loans, and more."
