Inaugural TransForum West Event Brings Electric Transmission Leaders to San Diego
SAN DIEGO, July 11, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Electric transmission industry leaders from all over North America will converge on the San Diego Marriott Gaslamp for two days of discussions and networking at the only electric transmission event that targets the West.
Held on July 16th and 17th, TransForum West kicks off with a panel discussion on FERC Order 1000 and its implications for the Western Interconnection.
"This is a pertinent and timely topic for the region," Rosy Lum, Chief Analyst for TransmissionHub, said. "Order 1000 will shape transmission planning in the U.S. for the foreseeable future, and the West will arguably undergo some of the most significant changes in order to meet its requirements. This first panel will frame the issues we'll discuss during the course of the conference."
Among the other topics to be discussed are advances in grid security and reliability, the pitfalls of the NEPA process and the planning and operational challenges involved in connecting the West's abundant renewable resources to the grid.
Business leaders, venture capitalists, attorneys, engineers and policy makers comprise the heady list of speakers, presenters and moderators slated to participate at TransForum West.
"We're honored to have these speakers," Edward Metz, Vice President for PennWell's Intelligence & Data Products group, said. "Response from key industry leaders has been overwhelming for our first event out West."
Registration for TransForum West is still open and walk-in registration will be accepted for both days of the conference, July 16th and 17th. Registration information can be found at www.energyhubforums.com/westforum/registration.
"The event is structured so the attendees can participate in all of the discussions and presentations," Lum said. "The format is intimate and informative, and provides unique networking opportunities for transmission insiders."
