Inaugural HABLA Awards Celebrates Community Leadership and Service in Orlando, Florida!
Hispanic Achievement & Business Leadership Awards (HABLA) serves as the closing ceremony to Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations
ORLANDO, Oct. 4, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The 1st Inaugural HABLA – Hispanic Achievement and Business Leadership Awards, produced by the Lanza Group, LLC, took place Wednesday, Oct. 03, 2012 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at The Citrus Club in Orlando. HABLA awards five honorees, selected through peer nominations, for their achievements and accomplishments made in the Orlando business and civic community.
"The HABLA Awards celebrated a wide variety of Orlando's talent, from a college director, mentor, chief executive officer for a major company in Orlando, to Florida's UPS president," said Lanza Group President Ralph E. 2012 HABLA Honorees include:
- Corporate Executive: David Ruiz, UPS President, Florida District
- Civic/Government: Edward A. Bustos, Director of International Admission, Rollins College

- Unsung Hero: Stephanie Elias, Tutor and Mentor
- Scholarship: Ismael Aponte, Valencia College
The HABLA awards are given based on nominations made by peers and members of the Orlando business and civic communities. The awards luncheon highlights each honoree, and a presentation by keynote speaker, Glenn Llopis, a Cuban-American entrepreneur, motivational speaker and business consultant. HABLA also hosts a scholarship competition for one student to receive aid for higher education, through a rigorous application process. Ismael Aponte was chosen as the 2012 winner for his impressive community service, school records, dreams of becoming a physical therapist and leading the way for future generations.
HABLA serves as a closing ceremony to Hispanic Heritage Month festivities in Orlando, and highlights the accomplishments of Latino role models and provides them with the recognition they merit.
