iNACOL to Host 5/12/10 Webinar on A Parent's Guide to Choosing the Right Online Program
VIENNA, Va., May 10 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The International Association for K-12 Online Learning (iNACOL) is hosting a webinar on "A Parent's Guide to Choosing the Right Online Program" to help guide parents in researching and selecting appropriate online learning options for their children in elementary and secondary education.
This webinar, part of iNACOL's Leadership Webinar series, will be held Wednesday, May 12th, from
2:00 – 3:00 PM (Eastern) via Elluminate.
This webinar is based on the iNACOL Promising Practices publication, A Parent's Guide to Choosing the Right Online Program (April 2010), a primer for parents that covers a wide array of topics and questions from what online learning is to how to select the right online school, program or course.
According to Susan Patrick, President & CEO of iNACOL, "With growing interest in online learning opportunities from students and parents, there are a number of programs offering online learning ranging from state virtual schools to online charter schools, that may be available to students, depending on where they live and what the state and district policies are for accessing these options. Thirty-five states have state virtual schools and initiatives, while only twenty-five states offer full-time virtual schools. In addition, there are online learning options that are public or private, offered by university programs or independent schools, full-time programs or supplemental online courses, fully online or blended online and classroom instruction, creating a vast array of options from which students and parents can choose. This guide will help provide a framework to find the program to best fit every student's individual needs. With online learning, we can customize and personalize learning for every student."
