In Time for Fans Enjoying The Hobbit on DVD, New Book Pokes Fun at The Lord of the Rings
WASHINGTON, April 11, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The Lord of the Rings is one of the most successful and well-known stories of all-time. As such, the books and movies are ripe for parody. And that's what one fan, Stuart Anderson, has written, with his new book The Lord of the Ring Dings.

Tracking closely the movies, the story follows the adventures of Dodo and Sam-I-Am as they travel to Door-Door to destroy the golden Ring-Ding. To help on their quest, Sam and Dodo are joined by Oregon, and Gimpley the dwarf, who woos the ladies of Middling-earth (both of them). The Elvis lend a hand, providing the travelers with the traditional Elvis food of meatloaf and fried peanut butter and banana sandwiches. Gandolf is around as well, but his spells generally don't work. And, of course, there's Jollum, who will stop at nothing to get his hands on the precious Ring Ding.
"One of the running jokes in the book is that the author needed to use product placements to defray publishing costs," said Anderson. "This gave me a chance to imagine what types of plugs for Starbucks, Taco Bell and various erectile dysfunction medications would be the most inappropriate if they had been included in any of The Lord of the Rings movies."
The book can be purchased at http://www.amazon.com/Lord-Ring-Dings-Stuart-Anderson/dp/1481072765/ref=sr_1_3?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1362803384&sr=1-3.
And there is also a website dedicated to the book at http://www.lordoftheringdings.com/.
On the website, readers can read the first chapter, find mock reviews of the book by Lord of the Rings characters, and read unrelated comedy Anderson has written.
"The Lord of the Ring Dings is intended for fellow fans of the books and movies, but anyone can read it and get the comedy," said Anderson. "I hope people will give it a try. I could really use the money. Oh, I guess I'm not supposed to say that."
