ATLANTA, Aug. 21, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The Kyle Pease Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to improving the lives of people with disabilities through sports, announces a $250,000 capital campaign. Its most ambitious fundraising goal to date, the Kona Capital Campaign was created to support the foundation as it prepares to take the global stage at the IRONMAN World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. The funds received will cover the team's travel costs for the race as well as allow the foundation to enhance its infrastructure to support a greater number of athletes from across the country.
The IRONMAN World Championship gives the Kyle Pease Foundation the unique opportunity to compete with the best athletes in the world while raising awareness and funds to bolster its mission of inclusion in sports. Fundraising efforts for the Kona Capital Campaign will be used to:
- Purchase a new vehicle to transport athletes to events coast-to-coast
- Purchase a new equipment truck to store and carry the gear that allows athletes of all abilities to compete in races
- Fund two job positions with the foundation for disabled persons
- Offer a Van Scholarship Grant to aid families who require a costly wheelchair-accessible vehicle
"As an athlete, it's an incredible opportunity to participate in the IRONMAN World Championship, but as a philanthropist, the ability to introduce the Kyle Pease Foundation and promote inclusion on the world stage is truly a once-in-a-lifetime moment," shares Brent Pease, executive director of the Kyle Pease Foundation. "We have been able to do remarkable things in the seven years since our launch, but the funds we're seeking through the Kona Capital Campaign will allow us to support more athletes and their families in ways that can improve lives well beyond the finish line."
Founders Kyle and Brent Pease will compete in the IRONMAN World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, on Oct. 13, 2018. An opportunity they have sought since 2012, the brothers will be the only wheelchair-assisted team participating in the race and are seeking to be the second wheelchair-assisted team to ever complete the grueling 140.6-mile journey.
Since its inception in 2011, the Kyle Pease Foundation has championed more than 100 athletes across 60 events and has raised more than $1.5 million in aid of disabled persons in sports.
