Arturo Artaza, Executive Vice President of University Relations & Marketing, reflects on how the field of international education has changed in the last 25 years. "Today study abroad is for everyone. Once upon a time it was limited to Liberal Arts majors, but now we have nontraditional majors such as engineering, business, science students, to name a few, going abroad."
ISA has achieved many milestones since 1987, proving itself as a leading third-party study abroad provider for students. With the development of Learning Programs International (LPI), designed specifically for high school and Gap Year students in 1989, and the faculty focused Custom Programs division started in 1998, ISA has branched out in new directions to fulfill growing faculty and student needs. More options were added in 2002 including the Experiential Learning Abroad Programs (ELAP) for volunteer opportunities abroad as well as Veritas Christian Study Abroad, an affiliate started in 2009.
In recent years, ISA has added unique locations to its portfolio of programs including Jordan, India, China, Ireland and Northern Ireland. More recently, in 2010-2011, ISA launched the Association for Global Universities (AGU), an affiliate that connects students to universities worldwide.
"ISA has been proactive in adapting to the ever-changing field of international education by keeping our primary focus on both our university partners and the needs of our students," said Artaza.
In a 2011 survey conducted by Abroad 101, a popular study abroad review website, ISA was voted the #1 provider in the Top Academics and Best Program Administration categories.
"We know 2012 is going to be one of our best years yet and we look forward to continuing to provide once-in-a-lifetime opportunities for students to experience diverse cultures abroad," said Artaza.
