WASHINGTON, Oct. 15, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- On October 21, The Hamilton Project at Brookings will explore the role of education in American society, and release three new proposals detailing ways to improve college outcomes through reforms to student lending and financial aid. Thought leaders in higher education—including former U.S. Treasury Secretary Robert E. Rubin; Vassar College President Catharine Bond Hill; University of Texas Chancellor Francisco G. Cigarroa; University of North Carolina President Thomas Ross; Wesleyan University President Michael Roth; and LaGuardia Community College President Gail Mellow—will join the authors of the new proposals to discuss new approaches to strengthening the Pell Grant program to meet the needs of a modern economy, reforming the federal student loan repayment system, and expanding access to information on the "net" vs. "sticker" price of attending college. The new proposals will be available at www.hamiltonproject.org at 10:00 a.m. ET on October 21st.
