IMPACT and the Applied Science Foundation for Homeland Security, Part of the LIFT Family, Announce Partnership
Associate Member will further Strengthen Homeland Security Enterprise
FARMINGDALE, N.Y. and BETHPAGE, N.Y., April 12, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- IMPACT, a leading provider of innovative tools and technologies to protect public and private safety workers, announced today that it has become an associate member with the Applied Science Foundation for Homeland Security, part of the Long Island Forum For Technology (LIFT) family (Bethpage, NY), in order to develop and produce resilient and sustainable homeland security products and solutions for our nation's First Responder community. The agreement between the organizations will increase the facilitation of ideas, technologies and experiences between IMPACT and the Foundation and its public, private sector and academic partners.
In announcing the agreement, Dennis Labriola, president and CEO of IMPACT, said: "We are extremely interested in this unique and powerful collaboration to bring bona fide, effective and technological advancement to First Responders and the security of our communities. The time of each entity working isolated from one another has long passed and it is only through joint efforts like those being made possible by the Foundation that progress can be achieved."
"IMPACT represents the ideal company that the Foundation looks to partner with," said Frank Otto, president of the Foundation. "Their efforts of working with the First Responder community to develop the products they need are right in line with our mission," Otto said. The Foundation's goals are to accelerate the transfer of technology into end-user- driven products and systems in support of first responders and other homeland security personnel. "This public/private sector collaboration is in everyone's best interest and also advances broader economic development objectives," added Otto.
"Combining their capabilities with the Foundation's and its other affiliates will allow us to pursue much larger programs with the government," said Paul Schneider, Chairman of the Board of the Foundation. "We look forward to our shared success with IMPACT and are pleased to have them as an Associate Member."

About the Applied Science Foundation for Homeland Security Foundation
The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that focuses on accelerating the transfer of technology into end-user-driven products and systems in support of first responders and other homeland security personnel. We accomplish this by creating a "living lab" environment in our Morrelly Homeland Security Center – which is the first, and only one, of its kind privately owned homeland security C4I facility – that allows for unprecedented collaboration between the public and private sectors. The result: A more efficient way of developing and commercializing products and services that homeland security end-users need and can afford.
