iMedicor Launches SocialHIE Service For Galaxy Health Network
NANUET, N.Y., May 16, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- iMedicor (OTC: VMCI) today announced it has launched its upgraded SocialHIE Version 3.0 for Galaxy Health Network, one of the nation's largest PPO/MCO healthcare networks comprising more than 400,000 physicians, 2700 medical centers and 47,000 ancillary care facilities.
The first stage of the launch will introduce iMedicor SocialHIE to Galaxy providers in New Jersey, and then be expanded to include providers in New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Maryland and Delaware. The program is expected to branch out to other regions of the country over the next few months.
iMedicor SocialHIE is one of the first secure social/professional networks to be coupled with a Health Information Exchange (HIE). The web-based portal will offer Galaxy providers a number of free core services, including the ability to create their own practice and the assignment of their own NHIN Direct Protocol account, as well as the ability to send and receive secure messages with attachments such as test results and images with multiple recipients, and build communities of peers and referral networks. iMedicor SocialHIE also features secure instant messaging to support internal staff needs, facilitate referrals and appointments with other practices, and allow off-site physicians to reach staff from the hospital instantly. In addition, Galaxy registrants will have access to one of the most extensive peer-reviewed Continuing Medical Education (CME) catalogs available on the Internet.
SocialHIE will also offer Galaxy providers Interoperability tools designed to enhance day-to-day clinical workflow and assist in making the transition from a paper to an electronic health records system relevant at the practice level.
The portal is designed to help Galaxy providers improve communications and engagement within their Network, as well as to assist every Galaxy provider practice in meeting Meaningful Use Stage 2 requirements and receiving full support for Direct Protocol and Interoperability with other practices. Even a medical practice that has not yet adopted an Electronic Health Record (EHR) system will be able to communicate securely with EHR practices or hospitals or healthcare support facilities.
iMedicor SocialHIE will also offer Galaxy providers certain optional fee-based upgrades, such as an internal faxing service, to further support their practice success and patient care.
"We are confident that Galaxy providers will appreciate how completely iMedicor SocialHIE addresses the challenges that most providers face in transitioning from a paper to a digital system, including the ability to meet the requirements of each stage of Meaningful Use," said iMedicor chief executive, Fred Zolla.
P.J. Shane, President, Galaxy Heath Network, added, "We are excited about providing this valuable service to our network providers. iMedicor SocialHIE will not only strengthen internal communications with our network providers, but also provide the interoperable features our providers require and have been in search of for quite some time."
