The IMD Guide to the Seven Journeys Reshaping Corporations Today
IMD, a top-ranked global business school based in Switzerland, today published a new book that aims to help business leaders and their organizations navigate major transformations more effectively.
Titled "Quest: Leading Global Transformations" (http://www.imd.org/research/quest-book/discover-quest-book), the book highlights seven ways in which global organizations are transforming themselves. It showcases the collective practical expertise of more than 50 world-leading IMD professors, who work each year with more than 8,000 global executives from almost 100 countries on IMD programs.
To guide global business leaders, the book distils this accumulated knowledge into seven transformation journeys (http://www.imd.org/research/quest-book), or "quests": for Global Presence, Global Value Generation, Global Leadership Development, Global Solutions, Global Agility, Global Co-innovation, and Global Sustainability.
Each of the seven chapters starts by taking leaders on a historical tour related to one of the quests. It then outlines dos and don'ts for organizations, features a company that has made that particular quest successfully, and concludes with some questions for leaders to assess their own organization's progress on that quest.
The book is co-authored by Anand Narasimhan, IMD's Shell Professor of Global Leadership, and Jean-Louis Barsoux, an IMD Senior Research Fellow.
Professor Narasimhan said: "Executive education is in IMD's DNA. Our professors' client contact, program delivery and research work offer a unique vantage point to observe companies' transformation journeys at close range. All seven quests are challenging and complex, and our hope is that this book will help global leaders and their organizations to better understand where they are on their journeys."
