"Imagine Me Beyond What You See" Announces Top 5 Mannequin Art Finalists
The iaedp Foundation's Annual Body Image Mannequin Art Competition at 2012 Symposium Prepares to Select Winning Entries
PEKIN, Ill., March 14, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals (iaedp) invites attendees of its 2012 Symposium in Charleston, SC, March 22-25 to join in celebrating the top five finalists for this year's "Imagine Me Beyond What You See" Body Image Mannequin Art Competition. Selected from 12 submissions from treatment centers and private practices, this year's entries impressed and inspired its distinguished panel of eating disorder professionals, art therapists, American Art Therapy Association representative and professional artist.
Imagine Me Beyond What You See is an annual Body Image Mannequin Art Competition and Awareness Project designed to promote a healthy awareness and acceptance of body images. "Imagine Me is an awareness-through-art project that encourages reflection on the perception of beauty with the theme's emphasis on seeing beyond the physical image," said Bonnie Harken, Managing Director of The iaedp Foundation.
The mixed-medium works were judged on clarity of theme, creativity, quality of composition and design, along with the overall impression and presentation of the piece. Following are the selected top five finalists:
- Shattered by Dr. Susan J. Mendelsohn's Eating Disorder Therapy Group
- The Light Within by Eating Recovery Center's Behavioral Hospital for Children and Adolescents/ Katie Pruitt, ATR-BC
- Mariposa by Eating Recovery Center's Partial Hospital Program/Lisa Talucci, MA, LPC, ATR
- Unraveled by Rebecca Tishman
- She is a Tree of Life by Sara Burchfiel
All entries will be mounted and displayed during 2012 Symposium to give attendees the opportunity to vote for their favorite and select the "Professional's Choice" award. The winner, along with awards for Runner-Up, Honorable Mention and Professional's Choice will be announced during 2012 Symposium on Friday, March 23 during the Imagine Me Awards and Chapter Networking Reception.
