Illinois Tech Ranked 8th on College Factual List of "Top 10 Engineering Colleges in the U.S."
CHICAGO, Sept. 10, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) was ranked eighth on a list of the "Top 10 Engineering Colleges in the United States" by a relatively new college ranking service. The ranking, which appeared in USA Today, comes from College Factual, and is based on Payscale estimates of early-career and mid-career salaries, the number of engineering majors offered at Illinois Tech, the percent of the total Illinois Tech student body that are engineering majors, and other factors such as the six-year graduation rate.
"IIT Armour College of Engineering continues to educate our students to be leaders in the development and use of multidisciplinary approaches and technology to solve complex, socially critical global problems. We are committed to excellence in technology-focused education with a renewed emphasis on the entrepreneurial and ethical practice of engineering," said Natacha DePaola, dean of IIT Armour College of Engineering. "Being listed as one of the top 10 engineering colleges in the United States is another recognition of our outstanding students' accomplishments."
College Factual also recognized that IIT Armour College of Engineering "has a serious commitment to full-time teachers, smaller than average class sizes and a low student loan default rate."
The College Factual ranking is the latest recognition of Illinois Tech's elevated reputation in engineering education. In 2012, the National Academy of Engineering (NAE) recognized Illinois Tech as having one of 29 programs in the nation that have successfully infused real world experiences into engineering undergraduate education. This year, U.S. News & World Report (USNWR) ranked Illinois Tech as one of its Best Value Schools.
