Illinois State Rifle Association Announces 13th Annual NRA Day at the ISRA Range
CHICAGO, June 15, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The following was released today by the Illinois State Rifle Association (ISRA):
The ISRA is pleased to announce that its 13th annual "NRA Day at the ISRA Range" will take place on Saturday, June 20th. The event will take place at the ISRA Range which is located on Warner Bridge Road in Bonfield, IL approximately half way between Illinois Routes 113 and 17. The event begins at 10:00 AM and runs until 4:00 PM. The purpose of the NRA Day at the ISRA Range is to familiarize people with the organization and act as an introduction to those new to the shooting sports.
Activities running throughout the day include military encampments and battle reenactments from WWII, Viet Nam and the French & Indian war. Another feature of the event that is popular with young and old alike is the static display of restored military vehicles. By far the most popular attraction at the event is the ability for qualified attendees to test-fire products offered by major firearm manufacturers. Food and beverages will also be available.
The NRA Day at the ISRA Range is open to the public with no admission or parking fees. There is a nominal charge for ammunition for those wishing to test-fire guns provided by manufacturers. All persons wishing to test-fire must complete a special safety briefing and will be provided with eye and hearing protection. Persons prohibited from owning firearms by state for federal law will not be admitted to the event and persons under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Personal firearms and/or ammunition will not be allowed at the facility during the event.
A special briefing for members of the media will be held at 9:00 AM. Reservations are required for the press briefing. Therefore, members of the media wishing to attend the briefing must call the ISRA office at (815) 635-3198 to make a reservation.
The ISRA is the state's leading advocate of safe, lawful and responsible firearms ownership. For more than a century, the ISRA has represented the interests of millions of law-abiding Illinois firearm owners.
