Illinois, Delta auctions total more than $24.6 million; major series of farmland auctions to continue in Texas and Colorado

GREENVILLE, Miss., Oct. 23, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Wednesday's auction of approximately 4,783 acres of cropland in Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi brought $16,993,200, bringing the midway total for a major series of four days of auctions to $24,643,200, according to Schrader Real Estate and Auction Company.

The series offering a total of approximately 13,450 acres of farmland in six states began Monday, with sale of two farms in Illinois – a total of 655 acres – for a total of $7,650,000.

"We've had good responses to the properties in Illinois, Louisiana, Mississippi and Arkansas, with a healthy turnout of investors and farm operations," said R.D. Schrader, president of the auction company. "Now we'll see how bidders respond to the upcoming offerings in Texas and Colorado."

Next up is the offering of approximately 6,054 acres of irrigated farmland in seven tracts in the Texas Panhandle. The land – almost all tillable – is located near Dumas and Stratford and has 16 center pivots and 33 irrigation wells. The Texas auction will begin at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 24, at Rita Blanca Coliseum, Dalhart.

The final event is the offering of approximately 1,958 acres of Philips County farmland near Holyoke, Colorado. The Colorado auction will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, at the Philips County Event Center in Holyoke.
