Availity to help rural hospitals increase upfront collections and enhance patient satisfaction
JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Oct. 16, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The Illinois Critical Access Hospital Network (ICAHN) has selected Availity, the nation's largest real-time health information network, as the preferred patient access vendor for its 53 member hospitals.
ICAHN member hospitals expressed a need to improve upfront collections and enhance patient satisfaction, a critical service as the popularity of high-deductible health plans grows. With Availity Patient Access, ICAHN's member hospitals will be able to obtain accurate information about their patients' financial responsibility before their visit; gain insight into each patient's ability to pay what they owe; offer patients payment options; and improve consistency of communication with patients about their payment obligations.
"The functionality and ease of use of Availity's Patient Access made it an ideal and affordable solution for small, rural hospitals," said Curt Zimmerman, Director of Business Services and Development for ICAHN. "The ability of our member hospitals to provide patients with an accurate estimate of cost for services prior to the point of care will improve patient satisfaction and increase upfront collections."
ICAHN, a not-for-profit 501(c)3 corporation established to promote efficiency and best practice and improve healthcare services, includes small and rural critical access hospitals (CAH) located across Illinois, and comprises more than 10,000 employees, 1,250 hospital beds, and combined gross patient revenues of $2.1 billion.
"We look forward to working with ICAHN to help increase upfront collections, improve patient satisfaction, and achieve consistent adherence to organizational policies and guidelines for their member hospitals," said Russ Thomas, Availity CEO. "If we can help providers effectively address patient payments at the beginning of the relationship, we believe that they will see improvement in overall revenue management and patient engagement."
