Illinois CPA Society Honors Sheldon P. Holzman with its 2012 Lifetime Achievement Award
CHICAGO, June 12, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Illinois CPA Society recently honored Sheldon P. Holzman, CPA/CFF, CFE, with its 2012 Lifetime Achievement Award for his commitment to the Society, as well as his overall contributions and professional achievements.
Since becoming a Certified Public Accountant in 1977, Holzman, a retired Partner with Baker Tilly Virchow Krause LLP, has been actively involved in the CPA profession, contributing generously of his time and considerable professional expertise. In 1990, after being with two National firms, including a large local firm, he joined Kupferberg, Goldberg & Neimark, which later became the Chicago office of Baker Tilly. While with the firm, Holzman served as a Partner in the Public Sector Practice Group and led the Forensic, Valuation and Litigation Services Group. Throughout his career, he assisted clients in implementing new accounting standards, developed accounting and tax planning strategies and served many for profit and not-for-profit clients.
Over the past three decades, Holzman has served on, and often led, a number of significant committees and task forces of the Illinois CPA Society. His chairmanship of groups such as the Ethics Committee, Nominating Committee, Committee Structure & Volunteerism Task Force, and most importantly, the Society's Board of Directors, proved especially valuable as ICPAS and its members navigated through new challenges and established new strategic directions.
Holzman's commitment to the future of the CPA profession is further demonstrated by his involvement with the CPA Endowment Fund of Illinois where he currently serves on the Board of Directors and the Illinois CPAs for Political Action Task Force. His participation at the national level as an AICPA Council Member and a member of the Illinois CPA Society Federal Legislative Contact group help to keep the issues that are important to the CPA profession front and center with regulators and legislators.
Holzman, a Glenview, Illinois resident, received a BS in Commerce with an emphasis on Accounting from DePaul University. He is also a member of the National Association of Certified Fraud Examiners and the Association Forum of Chicagoland, as well as a licensed certified public accountant in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Nevada, Missouri and Wisconsin.
