Illinois Bone & Joint Institute Announces the Formation of New Philanthropic Arm Named 'IBJI CARES'
IBJI CARES will provide health and wellness care to those in need in Chicago and Worldwide
DES PLAINES, Ill., Sept. 5, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Illinois Bone & Joint Institute (IBJI), one of the largest independent, physician-owned orthopedic practices in the U.S., today announced the formation of IBJI CARES, a new official philanthropic organization supported by IBJI's employees.
IBJI CARES is a registered 501(c)(3) and the acronym 'CARES' stands for Compassionate Allied Rehabilitation Enabling Society. The charity's mission is to empower Team IBJI to promote the benefits of wellness, healthy movement and positive lifestyles with neighbors near and far through fundraising, education, community outreach and service opportunities.
"IBJI is comprised of a group of compassionate physicians, therapists and staff dedicated to helping our patients move better and live better," said Tara Banick, PT, DPT, chairperson of IBJI CARES. "Throughout our nearly 30-year history IBJI team members have regularly donated time and resources to organizations including Dare2Tri, Wounded Warriors, Habitat For Humanity, Stand Up 2 Cancer and the Greater Chicago Food Depository. Launching a dedicated charitable organization of our own will enable us to focus our individual employees' charitable efforts in a cohesive manner for a greater and more focused impact."
Funds raised through IBJI CARES will be awarded to causes that benefit the health of those within the Chicagoland community, as well as global causes that have a direct impact on health and well-being worldwide. IBJI CARES will also join forces with other charitable groups to support impact projects in progress.
IBJI CARES is kicking off its efforts by hosting a drive for gently-used crutches, walkers and canes that will be donated to children in need in Haiti, through a partnership with the charitable organization Crutches4Kids. Chicagoland residents who would like to donate to this effort can drop off any items at any IBJI MD or rehab facility between now and September 28, 2018.
