NEW YORK, Oct. 25, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Iliyan Ivanov, M.D., is recognized by Continental Who's Who as a Pinnacle Lifetime Member in the field of Psychiatric Medicine.
Dr. Ivanov serves as a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist as well as an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at St. Luke's Mount Sinai Hospital. He has served his current position since 2015, and brings over 17 years of field experience, to his role.
As part of his job duties, Dr. Ivanov utilizes his clinical expertise in the assessment and treatment of youths with ADHD, childhood trauma, mood and anxiety disorders, and adolescent and young adult with substance use disorders.
In addition to his responsibilities as Medical Director of Acute Care, Dr. Ivanov is the author of over 50 peer-reviewed publications featured in the American Journal of Psychiatry, JAMA Psychiatry and the Journal of Neuropsychopharmacology. He also has contributed over 10 chapters to different textbook on psychiatric and addictive disorders including the Kaplan and Sadock's Comprehensive Textbook of Psychiatry, and the Dulcan Textbook of Child Adolescent Psychiatry among others.
Dr. Ivanov obtained his Medical degree from the Higher Medical Institute Varna (1984 - 1990); he completed residency in General Psychiatry at Maimonides Medical Center (1997-2000) and in General and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine (2000-2003).
He is certified by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates and by the American Society of Addiction Medicine for Buprenorphine Treatment of Opioid Dependence, and is Board Certified in General and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
To further his professional development, Dr. Ivanov is a member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry – where he served as the past President of his local chapter and is an active Board Member – and of the Society of Biological Psychiatry, where he is a member of the Program Committee.
As a testament to his outstanding accomplishments in the field, Dr. Ivanov is the recipient of several honors and awards, including: the 2016 Outstanding Mentor Award by the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry; the 2015 Distinguished Fellow Award of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry; and the 2014 New York Council Outstanding Leadership Award, to name a few. He has also been selected in the Best Doctors database since 2011.
Dr. Ivanov enjoys extracurricular activities in arts and music as founder and member of the jazz band The Shrinks and an active member of the Openings art collective. He has performed music and exhibited his art in the New York area for over 15 years.
