DENVER, May 15, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Iliff School of Theology's Master of Arts in Social Change (MASC) and Graduate Certificate in Religion and Social Change offers students a way to honor their commitment to justice and peace and social change. 

A cornerstone of an Iliff education since its beginning in 1892, Iliff's MASC program offers not only a solid academic foundation, but active participation in community service and societal change. 

"I was looking for a graduate degree program that would give me the tools, resources, and credibility, along with what I already knew, to address the participants in a non-profit I co-founded," said Andriette Fields, a recent Iliff MASC graduate.  "Through Triple Threat Ministries, founded in 2006, I lead workshops focusing on women, empowering them to see new possibilities for their lives beyond the traditional roles their culture has set for them."

Iliff's MASC curriculum provides interdisciplinary approaches through courses combining political theory, sociology, ethics, theology, and the history, theory, and practice of social change movements. Students are encouraged to combine personal and academic reflection with community activism and issue advocacy through the program. The MASC program also includes a first-year colloquium experience and internship placement or field education related to a student's vocational trajectory.
