IGT Announces Summary Judgment Entered in its Favor Against Aristocrat in Litigation Over Multi-Level Progressive Technology
LAS VEGAS, May 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- International Game Technology (NYSE: IGT), a global leader in creating the games players love and casino network systems that improve the player experience, announced today it was granted summary judgment in a patent infringement lawsuit against Aristocrat Technologies. IGT was found not to infringe Aristocrat's US Patent Nos. 7,056,215 and 7,108,603. Aristocrat had alleged that IGT's multi-level progressive games including its Fort Knox®, Jackpot Hunter®, Party Time!® and Wheelionaire® mystery progressive systems, infringed the patents.
The lawsuit was filed in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California on June 12, 2006. Judge Ronald M. Whyte entered an Order granting IGT's motion for summary judgment on May 13, 2010. The plaintiffs in the lawsuit were Aristocrat Technologies Australia PTY Limited and its U.S. subsidiary Aristocrat Technologies, Inc.
Aristocrat has alleged that IGT is infringing an additional patent (US Patent No. 7,582,014) and has a motion pending to add that patent to the lawsuit. IGT is opposing that motion and believes that it has meritorious defenses to these allegations of infringement.
