IgNight Your Passions!!!
JOSHUA TREE, Calif., Dec 19th, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Early bird tickets are now on sale for The IgNight Flow Arts Retreat which offers over 200-plus classes in Yoga, Magic, Circus Arts, Martial Arts, Juggling, Dance, Archery, Aerial Acrobatics, Hooping, Fire Spinning, Fire Walking, Sweat Lodges, Clowning, Parkour, Fans and much more by some of the top teachers in their fields. The three-day event (April 27-29, 2018) will be held at the famous Joshua Tree Retreat Center built by Frank Lloyd Wright, creating an environment where access to mind-expanding knowledge will keep you in the FLOW. All classes are open to beginners unless otherwise noted on the schedule.
"IgNight promotes the healing benefits of Flow Arts through educational events, community outreach and promotional materials. Flow is the state of optimal experience that occurs when your body and mind are in dynamic balance. It's when the NOW is so compelling that everything else fades away," said Michael Engel, CEO, IgNight Flow Arts.
"It has been found that people who experience a lot of flow in their daily lives also develop other positive traits, such as high concentration, high self-esteem, and even greater health." - Via Lance P. Hickey, Ph.D., for Huffington Post
Findings suggest that juggling therapy may be effective for the treatment of anxiety disorders. This year, IgNight is opening a scholarship program for veterans suffering from PTSD and will offer lodging and tickets to those looking to heal by learning a moving meditation. IgNight Flow Arts is a 501(c)3 Public Charitable Foundation which allows tax-exempt donations to help fund its many educational programs.
Included in the ticket is access to more than 12 classes running concurrently during the daytime, over 200 in all. Beginning at noon on Friday and ending at 5 p.m. on Sunday.
Flow tools used at the retreat can include hoops, poi, fans, staves, torches, wands, swords and more. Many of these can be purchased in the vendor area. Tools are often rigged with kevlar, so they can be lit on fire. A nightly spin session allows students to practice their newly acquired ninja skills and develop muscle memory, reinforcing what they've learned during the day.
Working with fire is a unique responsibility. IgNight's leadership works closely with The Joshua Tree Chamber of Commerce, The Joshua Tree Sheriff Department and The San Bernardino Fire Department to make this retreat the safest event possible. All participants must attend a mandatory fire safety workshop, which grants them access to the nightly fire spinning area. In a letter to the IgNight team, San Bernardino County Fire Marshal, Curtis Markloff wrote: "Sometimes it is hard to believe that a festival that is based on fire like yours can be such a safe event and a learning atmosphere for not only your participants but for myself and other fire department inspectors."
The IgNight Flow Retreat's legendary location is the oldest and largest center of its kind in the country, built and designed in the 1930s by Frank Lloyd Wright using locally sourced materials. The retreat center's elegant spaces house luxurious amenities: air-conditioned lodging, classrooms, a swimming pool, jacuzzi and shaded meditation nooks to relax and reflect. Participants have the option to sleep in private rooms, dormitories or under the stars in the property's ample camping space surrounded by Joshua trees. The clear, high desert skies are ideal for stargazing and the Black Rock Observatory will be giving nightly lectures and telescope demonstrations.
Michael Engel, lead organizer for IgNight, is a community organizer with over 10 years promoting flow arts. "IgNight is a place for everyone to come learn new skills, have fun getting to know themselves and build community."
