RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif., Oct. 21, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Inland Empire Health Plan (IEHP) continues empowering people with disabilities to live independently by helping stage the Inland Empire Disabilities Expo, set for Saturday, October 22 at the National Orange Show in San Bernardino, from 10am to 4pm. Admission is free.
This year's Expo entertainment features extreme wheelchair athlete, Aaron "Wheelz" Fotheringham performing his jaw-dropping wheelchair back flip. Lauren Potter, star of the musical comedy-drama Glee, the popular Fox TV series that ran for six seasons, will make a celebrity guest appearance. Outside the spotlight, she advocates for people with intellectual disabilities through various organizations, such as Best Buddies International.
The Inland Empire Disabilities Collaborative (IEDC) presents the Expo, touted as the only one of its kind in the Inland Empire. A larger venue will accommodate more than 170 exhibitors showcasing more products and services. Topics include health, housing, transportation, employment, assistive technology and more. The event is expected to draw over 5,000 attendees, including people with disabilities of all ages, their families, caregivers and service providers.
"As an innovative health plan and leader in accessible health care, IEHP is extremely proud to participate in the Expo," said Dr. Brad Gilbert, IEHP chief executive officer. "We fully support this unique event, because of the many ways it empowers persons with disabilities to live independently."
Aiming to better serve people with disabilities, Inland Empire Health Plan led the way in the
creation of the IEDC in 2006. Today, the IEDC has grown to include over 400 organizations from
San Bernardino and Riverside Counties. With support from this network, the IEDC brings the Expo
to the community, promoting equal opportunity, universal access and full participation of people
with disabilities.
