IEHP Is First Health Plan In The Nation To Reach 25,000 Medicare-Medicaid Members
RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif., Nov. 20, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Inland Empire Health Plan (IEHP) is the first of 65 Medicare-Medicaid Plans (MMP) in the nation to reach 25,000 members. MMPs serve people who have low income and are over 65 or have a disability.
"This milestone is the result of our commitment to serving our members, and working with our providers and the community to help them fully understand the benefits of our program," said IEHP Chief Executive Officer Bradley P. Gilbert, MD.
Fifteen of the 65 MMPs are in California, where they are known as Cal MediConnect plans. Open to people who are eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid (Medi-Cal in California), the plans coordinate Medicare and Medicaid benefits for members, with the goals of providing improved care quality, better health, and a more efficient, integrated delivery system.
IEHP's DualChoice Cal MediConnect Plan serves residents of San Bernardino and Riverside counties. Cal MediConnect plans are also offered in Los Angeles, Orange, San Diego, San Mateo and Santa Clara counties.
Enrollment success for IEHP's DualChoice Cal MediConnect Plan was based on two key factors, including improved member retention and new enrollment rates.
Members have stayed in the plan because they can often keep their current doctor, as a result of IEHP's focus on building, maintaining and growing a robust provider network. Once they're in the plan, members receive a full spectrum of integrated care services, combined with IEHP's rigorous attention to customer satisfaction. The 2017 Medicare CAHPS survey data places IEHP in the 90th percentile for customer service.
IEHP was also the first plan to adopt the California Department of Health Care Services' strategy for streamlined enrollment in 2016. IEHP worked with the state, with healthcare advocates and one-on-one with its members to convey the benefits of its DualChoice Cal MediConnect Plan.
"IEHP is proud of the work our providers, community partners, and team members have done to implement and serve our members through the IEHP DualChoice Cal MediConnect Plan," said Susan Arcidiacono, Chief Marketing Officer at IEHP. "This enrollment achievement is a result of our efforts to ensure members have access to coordinated, quality healthcare."
