IDP Education Appointed by the State University of New York to Assist with its Ambitious International Student Growth Plan
The State University of New York (SUNY) has appointed IDP Education to assist with its ambitious international student growth plan and to enhance the visibility of New York's renowned university system in overseas markets.
PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 27, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The State University of New York (SUNY) has awarded a contract to IDP Education to recruit international students from more than 25 countries worldwide. Through SUNY's extensive network of 64 campuses, students are afforded the opportunity to select from more than 7,000 academic programs at institutions ranging from doctoral-granting universities to technical and community colleges and in equally diverse campus settings across the state and at its branch campus in South Korea. Well-versed in accommodating international students, SUNY's international population currently exceeds 22,000 representing 160 nations and is anticipated to increase in terms of enrollment numbers as well as diversity in the upcoming academic year.
SUNY only works with recruiting organizations which have been certified by the American International Recruitment Council (AIRC). IDP Education was among the earliest organizations to obtain this coveted certification. "We are very excited to be working with IDP," stated Dr. Mitch Leventhal, vice chancellor for global affairs. "IDP is the largest international student recruitment organization in the world, a trailblazer with a wealth of experience. We are very pleased that they are adding the SUNY system of colleges and universities to their portfolio." Under the leadership of Dr. Leventhal, 36 of SUNY's 64 New York campuses have formed a statewide international recruitment consortium designed to leverage its scale and maximize educational choice for students.
"With its wide array of educational opportunities, SUNY provides students with an unmatched level of choice, ranging from two-year associates programs to doctoral degrees, all of which benefit from the university system's highly recognized student support infrastructure and highly competitive overall cost," said Chris Elam, IDP Education's director of U.S. business development and client relations. IDP's global student recruitment network is made possible through the efforts of more than 500 company-employed counselors, who assist students to identify suitable study options and who are able to assess student trends in their respective regions. In response to the growing number of U.S. institutions that desire assistance with international recruitment efforts, IDP continues to provide professional, student-centric counseling services in key international markets.
