Identity theft has been the first item on the Federal Trade Commission's list of consumer complaints for the last 10 years. More than 11 million cases were reported in 2009, according to the Javelin Identity Fraud Survey Report. That's nearly four percent of the US population, with a new theft committed every three seconds. PrivacyRights.org cites over 510 million sensitive records compromised in data breaches from 2005 through 2010.
In response, Goodman's firm, Identity Theft 911, provides 40 percent of the nation's Property & Casualty insurers with comprehensive identity protection and data breach programs for their customers. Twelve million US households are protected by Identity Theft 911 through their B2B client relationships.
The panel will be moderated by Derek Lisk, a partner at Shook, Hardy & Bacon and, in addition to Goodman, includes Joe DePaul, area senior vice president for Arthur J. Gallagher Risk Management Services; Doug Magmuson, managing director for Huron Consulting Group; and Scott Goss, senior privacy counsel for Qualcomm.
Goodman brings a wealth of legal expertise to Identity Theft 911's data risk management team. A member of the State Bar of Arizona, he has served as the 2008-2009 Section Chair of the State Bar of Arizona's Internet, E-Commerce & Technology Law Practice Section. He is a Certified Information Privacy Professional and has studied comparative privacy law at the International Court of Justice in The Hague.
