Idaho Virtual Academy Congratulates Class of 2012
MERIDIAN, Idaho, June 5, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Idaho Virtual Academy (IDVA), a statewide, online public school serving students in kindergarten through 12th grade, honored more than 154 high school graduates during its three 2012 graduation ceremonies.
IDVA offers the award winning K12 curriculum individualized to each student's specific academic needs taught by Idaho-certified teachers. Students come from a wide variety of backgrounds including accelerated learners, students of military families, athletes and performers, and struggling students.
The ceremonies took place at the Kroc Center in Coeur d'Alene, Hillcrest High School Auditorium in Idaho Falls, and on the Northwest Nazarene University Campus in Nampa. The fourth graduating class of the Idaho Virtual Academy is made up of students from 28 different counties and 64 different cities across Idaho.
Valedictorian Sam Chandler of Boise spoke at all three ceremonies. "I am very grateful for the skills IDVA has given me as I head to college," said Chandler, who will be attending Washington University in St. Louis. IDVA graduates are going on to colleges across the US including University of Idaho, Boise State, Lewis and Clark, and community colleges; performing military service; and starting careers.
"We're proud to celebrate the hard work and accomplishments of each of our graduates," said Desi Laughlin, Head of School at IDVA. "The graduation ceremonies recognize not only their achievements, but the encouragement and support of their families and teachers."
