The Country's Largest, Fastest Growing Barbecue Chain Re-Opens with New Owner In Meridian
MERIDIAN, Idaho, Jan. 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Dickey's Barbecue Pit, the largest, fastest growing barbecue chain in the country, well-known for their hot, pit-smoked meats, free ice cream, and big yellow cups —reopens their doors under new ownership Tuesday, January 11th.
The location is at 2845 E. Overland Road, Suite 190.
New owners and brothers B.J. and Jared McDougal are bringing Dickey's signature smoked meats back to their Boise area community.

Dickey's is growing at a rapid pace, now with 139 locations and 60 set to open in 2011 so far.

With the unemployment rate at a frightening high, Dickey's and their entrepreneurial partners are offering jobs to many and expanding when other businesses are shutting down.
"Our progress is surprising to a lot of folks, but it makes sense to us. People want to get out of the rat race," Dickey said. "In turn, these new stores are employing people who otherwise would be on unemployment."
The McDougal's have already brought over 130 jobs to the Treasure Valley, with other restaurants that they own and operate.
Supporting the western Idaho market is very important to them, according to McDougal.
"McDougal Enterprises believes it's important to keep growing in this economy and that there is a huge demand for quality food at value prices," the co-owner said.
The first Dickey's Barbecue opened in 1941 in Dallas, TX.
The original location is still open for business and Dickey's Barbecue is still owned and operated by the Dickey Family.
Even today, Dickey's still slow smokes all of their signature meats overnight in every restaurant.
