In terms of recent environmental stewardship activities, iContact has adopted new environmental policies, performed a full environmental audit of operations, offset 51 percent of its 2010 CO2 emissions with plans to offset 100 percent for 2011, and organized a dumpster dive to assess its waste stream and recycling performance. iContact has also engaged in community activities connected to the environment, including adopting a highway and volunteering with non-profit organizations such as Triangle Land Conservancy and the Conservators' Center.
iContact also follows a 4-1s Corporate Social Responsibility Program as a way to formalize and standardize its community giving. Through this program, the company contributes one percent of employee time, product, payroll equivalent and equity to local and national charities. As part of this, it will donate more than 3,000 hours of community service, 800 free email and social media marketing accounts and $200,000 to non-profits in 2011.
"As a certified B Corporation, social and environmental responsibility is critical to how iContact acts, operates and serves its customers," said Matt Kopac, corporate responsibility manager at iContact. "2011 has been a big year in advancing this mission, and we're honored to be recognized atop the hundreds of area companies making strong impacts of their own."
