Iconic Waltham Watches Returns To America
THE LEGENDARY AMERICAN COMPANY THAT REVOLUTIONANIZED THE WORLD WATCHMAKING INDUSTRY RETURNS WITH PLANS OF US EXPANSION AND A NEW SWISS MADE HIGH-END COLLECTION.
NEW YORK, Oct. 30, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Founded in 1850, Waltham Watches has been setting the standards of innovation for nearly two centuries. Waltham instruments and clocks accompanied many extraordinary men throughout history's greatest endeavours including Sir Ernest Shackleton's trek to the South Pole, Robert Peary's conquering of the North Pole, Charles Lindbergh's first non-stop transatlantic flight aboard the Spirit of St. Louis and Abraham Lincoln following his Gettysburg address in 1863.
Waltham expertly crafted timepieces, clocks and precision instruments for the U.S. Army, Navy and Air Force. Railroad companies throughout 52 countries across 7 continents officially used the Waltham pocket watches. Waltham Watches produced 40 million timepieces and employed over 3,000 individuals at the height of its American production, making them one of the world's largest producers of pocket watches to date. The Waltham Watch Company established a new manufacturing branch in Switzerland to continue the brand legacy in 1954. Today Waltham returns in the hands of an American entrepreneur, Antonio DiBenedetto, current CEO and President, that is bringing the brand back to its country of origin. Waltham International SA has established offices in New York City, Lugano and Milan.
BORN FROM LEGENDS – AERONAVEL COLLECTION
Following three years of research and development, Waltham returns, inspired by its origins, to present a brand-new, unexpected Aeronaval Collection comprised of nine models, impeccable in style, performance and precision. Waltham utilizes a combination of high tech superior materials and Swiss craftsmanship to create an iconic "angular design", shaped by history and dedicated to modern extraordinary men, able to look at things from a different angle.
Inspired by the same model that Charles Lindbergh chose for his Spirit of St. Louis, the WALTHAM XA features a dial with a small seconds sub-dial at 12 o'clock. The WALTHAM CDI is a GMT with a unique civil date indicator in the center that is inspired by the CDIA fitted on board the Consolidated B24-Liberator and the Grumman F6F Hellcat fighter aircrafts used during the Second World War. The WALTHAM ETC highlights a central chronograph function with second hand and 60 minute elapsed time indicator similar to the iconic Type-A13a model used on board the F4 Phantoms of the 1960's and the legendary Top Gun fighter weapons school.
All three models are available in Pure, with case in titanium G5; Eclipse, in two-tone black PVD; and Black Matter, completely in black PVD.
