DALLAS, March 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Joovy, pioneer of the stand-on tandem stroller, announces upgrades and new features for its popular Caboose Ultralight stroller. Favored by parents for compactness and the ability to stroll with children of different ages, the new Caboose Ultralight Graphite has a new lean profile, rear canopy extension, and a graphite-colored aluminum frame. While others manufacturers have jumped on the tandem stroller bandwagon, parents favor the simplicity of the authentic design because it is easy to use and empowers older siblings.
The original stand-on tandem was designed in 1992 by grandfather, Bert Fairclough, whose grandson felt too old to ride in the stroller but was too young to walk very far. Bert's invention solved this problem by adding a stand-on platform between the stroller's two rear wheels so his grandson could ride without the need to lift him in or out of the stroller. He was able to jump on and off as he wanted. This not only provided a practical solution, it was fun!
The solution Bert offered his grandson years ago is one families still embrace today. The Caboose line of stand-on tandems is patterned on Bert's original design to satisfy mom, dad and kids. Parents love the flexibility and older siblings get a boost of independence and feel like "big kids" when they can choose to sit or stand, face forward or backward, on this tandem stroller.
Because of its unique design, the Caboose Ultralight is profoundly stable and the built-in stand-on platform supports a child up to 45 pounds. Unlike stroller board attachments that can be wobbly, unstable and awkward to manage, the Caboose Ultralight actually becomes more stable when a child stands on the platform.
Parents expecting baby number two can create a lightweight travel system for their toddler and newborn. This tandem comes with a universal car seat adapter that has baby facing towards the parent and in complete view while strolling. Having both children close can be a lifesaver and help keep tabs on both kids.
The Caboose Ultralight is a favorite for theme parks and travel as it navigates easily through crowds and tight spaces. Practical and convenient, this tandem is easy to fold, put in the trunk and folds up much smaller than most doubles.
The new Caboose Ultralight Graphite has a lightweight, graphite-colored aluminum frame. With a base weight of 19.9 lbs., the Caboose Ultralight weighs in 10% lighter than the original and weighs less than some single strollers. With tray, parent organizer and canopy attached, the total weight is 23.6 lbs. The large canopy has a new rear canopy attachment to cover the child seated in back. The Caboose Ultralight comes with a parent organizer, car seat adapter and tray.
If children are less than 2.5 years old, the Caboose Rear Seat accessory adds a full-size reclining seat for the most compact double stroller. A rain cover is available as a separate purchase.
Caboose Ultralight MSRP price $249.99
