Iconic 7 Deadly Zins Gets A Facelift
Michael David Winery's Signature Wine Has New Label Design for the 2012 Release
LODI, Calif., Oct. 13, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Brothers Mike and Dave Phillips of Michael David Winery have been producing the winery's flagship wine, 7 Deadly Zins, for over a decade. The wine has won numerous awards all across the country, has been highly acclaimed by many news outlets over the years, and is distributed in all 50 states and in many international markets as well. It's also America's number one selling Zinfandel brand over $10. With the release of the 2012 vintage of 7 Deadly Zins, the winery is excited to announce that the label will see an overhaul and has received an update.
Voicebox Creative in San Francisco, Calif. designed the new label, which has a fresher, cleaner and updated look. Inside the bottle, the wine is a team effort by Michael David's Director of Winemaking Adam Mettler, Winemaker/General Manager Derek Devries and Winemaker/Production Manager Jeff Farthing. Collectively the three have more than 20 years of winemaking experience at Michael David Winery.
The 2012 7 Deadly Zins ($16) is predominantly Lodi Zinfandel fruit with a small bit of Petite Sirah blended into the wine. This quintessential Zinfandel is an example of focused winemaking and a true testament to the venerable grapes that are grown in California's Lodi appellation. The wine has fragrant notes of crushed berry, soft oak and cigar box. It shows concentrated fruit in the mouth, with plenty of acidity to balance the ripeness; offering crushed wild berry, spice and black berry compote on the finish. This is also the first vintage of 7 Deadly Zins to be produced and bottled under the Lodi Rules for Sustainable Winegrowing, a third-party certification.
"Our family realized that it was time to upgrade the look of our beloved 7 Deadly Zins. We know that this new label will be attractive to younger wine consumers but it is still recognizable for those who have been loyal to the brand since its inception. We've also changed the glass to a broader shoulder bottle that is also a bit taller and wider. This, along with the new label design, shows that the price point is truly a value for what's on the inside," explains Melissa Phillips Stroud, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Michael David Winery.
The 2012 7 Deadly Zins will be shipped out in November and easily found in all 50 states and major retail markets by February. The wine will also be exported to over 20 countries including Canada, United Kingdom, China, Denmark, Norway, Signapore, Thailand, Japan and others.
Photos of the new label are available upon request and samples will be available later this year.
