ICON Aircraft Offers Reduced Deposit on A5 to Promote EAA AirVenture 2014
LOS ANGELES, July 29, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- ICON Aircraft announced that it is offering a promotion during the 2014 EAA AirVenture Oshkosh Air Show, which runs from 28 July to 3 August. For the duration of the show, the deposit for a production position of ICON's A5 amphibious Light Sport Aircraft is reduced from $5,000 to $2,000. The promotion is available for all orders, regardless of whether they are placed in person at the show or online.
"EAA AirVenture is a globally renowned event that epitomizes the spirit of General Aviation; we are delighted to unveil the first production A5 at the show this year," said ICON VP of Sales Craig Bowers. "The EAA air show at Oshkosh really captures the heart and soul of General Aviation at the grassroots level, making it the ideal place to show this milestone aircraft. We are honored to participate in AirVenture and are celebrating the event by making it even easier to become an A5 position holder by reducing the required deposit from $5,000 to $2,000 during the week of EAA AirVenture."
At this year's AirVenture, ICON is debuting the first production A5 at their booth on Celebration Way between Cessna and Cirrus. The first three aircraft built will support the FAA S-LSA approval process, currently scheduled for completion early next year. Customer deliveries will begin in May of 2015 from the company's new 140,000-square-foot facility in Vacaville, California.

ICON Aircraft's facilities are in Southern California, a hotbed for automotive design and aerospace engineering.
ABOUT FAA LIGHT SPORT AIRCRAFT & SPORT PILOT CLASSIFICATIONS:
In 2004, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) created a new classification of easy-to-fly and affordable two-person airplanes called Light Sport Aircraft. These airplanes enable a new classification of Sport Pilots to fly in lower-altitude, uncongested airspace, during the daytime, and in good weather. The Sport Pilot License focuses on the fundamentals of flying and requires a minimum of 20 hours of in-flight training, undercutting the time and cost of a traditional Private Pilot License by about 50%. The Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) has described the new rules as "the biggest change in aviation in 50 years."
