ICMA-RC's RealizeRetirement® Tour Extends its Run into 2017
"Technology and Talk" Approach Encourages Public Sector Employees to Save for Retirement
WASHINGTON, Jan. 30, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- ICMA-RC's RealizeRetirement® Tour is continuing its run through August 2017. Due to high demand, the Tour is being extended to make an additional 100 plus stops in approximately 20 states between January and August, 2017. Public sector employees in Florida, Georgia, Arizona, Oregon, Washington, Oklahoma, Arkansas, New York, and New England will experience the Tour for the first time. The Tour will also make return visits to Texas, California, Colorado, Maryland, Virginia and Washington, DC.
The interactive RealizeRetirement® Tour experience is designed to increase public sector employee interest in saving for retirement through sophisticated technology combined with personal interaction. Local ICMA-RC representatives are available at every location to assist employees with retirement plan enrollment, answer plan-related questions, and highlight the wide selection of educational resources available to them.
The Tour's "technology and talk" approach appeals to all generations of employees, including those just beginning their careers, to those nearing or in retirement.
"Plan sponsors and public sector employees have been enthusiastic about the ICMA-RC RealizeRetirement® experience and encouraged us to bring the Tour to their communities," said Gregory Dyson, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of ICMA-RC. "Combining innovative technology and personal interaction with local representatives encourages participant engagement and lasting awareness of the importance of building retirement security."
Key features of the Tour:
- The "My Retirement Dreams" animation program allows participants to experience a positive image of their future self when they retire.
- The Tour's virtual reality exhibit spotlights moments in the day of three public sector employees — a firefighter during a training session, a parks and recreation planner at a dog park, and a sports commission employee on a stadium rooftop and then leads to a view of what their retirement could be — giving users a unique, 360-degree view of these professions.
- The Tour's Selfie Station allows users to "picture" themselves in future travel destinations and share their photos via text, email, or social media.
- Each Tour stop will also include local ICMA-RC registered representatives to assist public sector employees with questions regarding enrollment and other participant needs.
