WASHINGTON, May 13, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- On Saturday, May 10, 2014, ICMA-RC participated in the National Police Week 5K, sponsored by the Officer Down Memorial Page (ODMP). Approximately 30 ICMA-RC associates ran, walked, and cheered on event participants. The 5K, created to pay tribute to fallen police officers who have died in the line of duty, began at the National Police Memorial and ended in front of the U.S. Capitol. During Police Week, tens of thousands of law enforcement officers from around the world converge on Washington, D.C. to participate in events to honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
"We are honored to participate in causes like National Police Week that pay tribute to our fallen public sector heroes, as we continue our focus on giving back to the communities we serve," said ICMA-RC President and CEO Joan McCallen. "I am so proud of our associates' desire and commitment to give back to such worthy causes."
To help support public sector employees and their families, ICMA-RC founded the ICMA-RC Vantagepoint Public Employee Memorial Scholarship Fund in 2001.
