ICMA-RC Goes Mobile for April's Financial Literacy Month
-- Mobile App Provides Convenient Education, Promotes Saving for Retirement --
WASHINGTON, April 28, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- ICMA-RC's mobile app helped reinforce the convenience of educational retirement planning resources for public sector employees during April's Financial Literacy Month. ICMA-RC's mobile app allows users to access information quickly and easily such as news, videos, and financial calculators — wherever and whenever they want.
The mobile app is a key tool in ICMA-RC's overall education outreach campaign, which includes the award-winning RealizeRetirement® website, a one-stop retirement education center equipped with an extensive library of retirement planning resources.
The Financial Literacy Month outreach campaign focused on the three most popular calculators, which are also available on ICMA-RC's mobile app:
- Small Change, Big Savings — Shows how giving up just a few everyday items can help you save big.
- Retirement Security Builder — Helps develop a personalized retirement savings strategy and calculates the after-tax effect of various contributions on your net pay.
- Savings Boost — Illustrates how increasing your contributions can provide a valuable boost to your future savings.
"At ICMA-RC, financial literacy means providing the most effective retirement planning tools that are interactive and easy to understand," said Alex Hannah, Vice President, Marketing Communications & Education. "Our mobile app and website offer innovative tools to help participants reach their retirement goals. For example, our Small Change, Big Savings calculator tells us that by simply giving up a $2 soft drink each day, you can save nearly $25,000 toward your retirement in 20 years, with a 5 percent investment return," said Hannah.
