Royce Carlton Agency Will Continue to Operate Under Their Own Banner With ICM Partners' Jonathan Perelman and Royce Carlton's Carlton Sedgeley Overseeing the Combined Lectures Unit
Deal Is Second In the Past Six Months for ICM Partners Following the Acquisition of 'Headline Media Management' This Past March
NEW YORK, Oct. 24, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- ICM Partners has acquired a majority interest in Royce Carlton, Inc., the leading New York independent speakers' agency, it was announced today by Chris Silbermann, Managing Director, ICM Partners and Carlton Sedgeley, CEO of Royce Carlton. The move bolsters ICM Partners' speakers business substantially, by combining the breadth and depth of its client roster and long standing speakers division, with the agents, clients and expertise of the prestigious, almost 50 year-old Royce Carlton. The combined ICM Partners lectures group will operate as Royce Carlton from their current headquarters in Manhattan and ICM Partners headquarters in Los Angeles. The agency will be run by Jonathan Perelman, ICM Partners' Head of Digital Ventures and Lectures, along with Carlton Sedgeley and Executive Vice President Lucy Lepage Sedgeley. The deal is the second agency acquired by ICM Partners this year, following its acquisition of Headline Media Management in March.
The acquisition is a natural one, as the two agencies have shared prestigious clients over the years, including Thomas Friedman, Ken Auletta and Alan Alda. Royce Carlton exclusively represents such sought-after speakers as Mitch Albom, Fareed Zakaria, Anne-Marie Slaughter and former US Ambassador to the United Nations Samantha Power. In addition, they represent an array of leading figures in business, academia, media, music, sports and entertainment, while ICM Partners' formidable speakers line-up includes John Cena, Caroline Kennedy and the Duplass Brothers.
Royce Carlton was founded in 1968 by Carlton Sedgeley and Lucy Lepage (Sedgeley). The agency has grown over the years in both size and stature, while maintaining a personalized approach to meet the individual needs of each client.
"The Royce Carlton agency is the definition of sophistication and integrity in the speakers business today, with a combination of strong core values, newsworthy clients and excellent agents," said Chris Silbermann. "We could not be more excited to build upon our longstanding, close relationship as we welcome them fully into the ICM Partners family.
In a joint statement by Carlton Sedgeley and Lucy Lepage, they remarked: "This is a perfectly timed, strategic move for us that assures our agents and staff, as well as our clients a long-term transition plan, while giving us access to more resources and clients to grow the agency while continuing to provide the best possible service to the people we represent."
The ICM Partners speakers division is currently overseen by Jonathan Perelman who joined ICM Partners from Buzzfeed in 2015, where he served as Vice President of Motion Pictures. Perelman previously served in a variety of executive roles at Google. Prior to joining ICM Partners, Perelman was a sought-after public speaker on the topic of emerging media and digital ventures to audiences around the globe.
"Royce Carlton is the prestige brand in the speakers business and we couldn't be more excited to integrate our robust roster and team with their outstanding clients and agents," said Jonathan Perelman. "The combination gives us a far greater footprint in the speakers' world, and will enable significant growth for ICM Partners."
