MATAWAN, N.J., April 29, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- At a time when trees are being felled for commercial and residential expansions in the Garden State, local companies, such as iCIMS, Inc., are looking to make a difference and help maintain the beauty of natural landscapes to this shoreline state. To celebrate Arbor Day, iCIMS, a leading provider of Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) talent acquisition solutions, announced its "Go Green" campaign through a partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation and in 2016 will be supporting the New Jersey Tree Recovery campaign. iCIMS will be teaming with the foundation to focus on the reforestation efforts of America. This year, trees planted will support homeowners and communities who lost their urban canopy in the wake of Superstorm Sandy.
To express its dedication with helping create a cleaner and healthier environment, iCIMS has hired a full-time resource who will focus specifically on driving green initiatives. iCIMS employees have already participated in a number of initiatives this spring and will continue efforts throughout the year, including:
- EarthShare New Jersey's Corporate Green Day Challenge: Teaming with NY/NJ Baykeeper, iCIMS employees cleaned the Cliffwood Beach section of Aberdeen, NJ by collecting hundreds of discarded bottles, cans, Styrofoam, and other waste products found on the shore line.
- Park Cleanup: Employees will be participating in a cleanup at Holmdel Park on May 20th, in addition to several other park and beach cleanups throughout the year.
- Plant a Good Deed Campaign: iCIMS launched this campaign to encourage employees to do good environmental deeds such as cleaning up their local park, gardening, practicing recycling habits, etc., and in return, employees receive a tree seedling.
- Donating Trees: For each new hire made, iCIMS donates money to the Arbor Day Foundation, which goes toward planting new trees and supports the reforestation of America. iCIMS plans to hire more than 200 employees in 2016, and will in return, plant 6,000 trees.
"Our employees share a common passion in helping to create a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable environment, from using eco-friendly recycled products in our offices to planting new trees for every employee hired," said Colin Day, chief executive officer of iCIMS. "We look to partner with environmentally-conscious organizations to enhance our green initiatives and make an even bigger footprint to improve the communities in which we live and work, raise awareness, and encourage others to take action. With our emphasis on planting trees and restoring our beautiful shoreline, it was a natural fit to partner with the Arbor Day Foundation."
The Arbor Day Foundation's New Jersey Tree Recovery Campaign is a partnership of Gov. Chris Christie's administration and the New Jersey State Forest Service. The program will reach 145 municipalities across the state and is expected to distribute about 102,000 tree seedlings during its run through May 15. The seedlings will come from the State Forest Nursery in Jackson and will include oaks, maples, dogwoods and 35 other species of trees. This is the third year that the organization has been working on its mission to replace trees that were destroyed or crippled by the strong winds of the October 2012 superstorm.
"Trees are assets to a community when properly planted and maintained," said Dan Lambe, president of the Arbor Day Foundation. "They help to improve the visual appeal of a neighborhood or shopping district, increase property values, reduce home cooling costs, remove air pollutants, and provide wildlife habitat, among many other benefits. We thank iCIMS for their support of the Community Tree Recovery program and for promoting tree planting as part of their Arbor Day celebration."
