WINDSOR, Colo., Sept. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Ice Energy, a leading provider of smart grid-enabled distributed energy storage solutions to the electric utility industry, today applauded the signing into law of the landmark California Energy Storage Bill AB 2514 by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Authored by Assemblymember Nancy Skinner (D-Berkeley) and sponsored by California Attorney General, Edmund G. Brown Jr., the new law directs the California Public Utilities Commission to set targets for utility adoption of cost-effective energy storage technologies. It is the first of its kind in the nation.
"We strongly commend Gov. Schwarzenegger, Attorney General Brown, Assemblymember Skinner, and the Legislature for their visionary leadership in the development, introduction and passage of this groundbreaking legislation," said Frank Ramirez, CEO of Ice Energy. "The signing of AB 2514 by the Governor is an important milestone in the state's quest to provide clean, affordable and reliable electric power for all Californians, and should create thousands of new clean energy jobs in our quickly growing industry."
"Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger's signing into law of Attorney General Jerry Brown's energy storage legislation is a triumph of common sense public policy over partisan politics. AB 2514's endorsement of energy storage to improve air quality, lower power costs for consumers and create thousands of new jobs in California is extremely valuable – its ability to bring together California's top elected officials is priceless," added David Nemtzow, the company's Chief Policy Officer.
