IBHS Last-Minute Checklist for Hurricane Lester Threatening Hawaii
TAMPA, Fla., Sept. 2, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The National Weather Service has issued a hurricane watch for most of the Hawaiian islands, as Hurricane Lester continues to move closer to the state. The storm is not expected to make landfall, but could cause flooding and high surf.
"There is still time for people in the storm's path to take last-minute actions to reduce potential damage to their homes and businesses," said Julie Rochman, president and CEO, Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS). "Residents should be mindful that this storm could produce heavy rains and higher winds, however, so people should be extremely careful when doing anything outdoors," she cautioned.
IBHS' Last-Minute Checklist for Hurricane Preparedness provides quick steps home and business owners can take to secure their outside surroundings, as well as their windows and doors. In addition, there are several actions residents can take now to reduce potential water damage from this storm.
