IAP CEO Douglas Kitani Selected to Washington 100
CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla., Jan. 22, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- IAP Worldwide Services, Inc. announced that Chief Executive Officer and Director Douglas Kitani was selected to the Executive Mosaic Washington 100 List for his contribution to the Government Contracting Industry. http://www.govconexec.com/wash-100-list/year-2015/ The Washington 100 is the premier group of private and public sector leaders elected by Executive Mosaic's organizational and editorial leadership for demonstrating a consistent commitment to organizational excellence, and driving above average value to the American public through strategic vision, innovation, and achievement.
Kitani joined IAP following its restructuring in July 2014, bringing a strategic vision to the Company to navigate it through a challenging period of government austerity, yet increasing threat levels to U.S. interests globally. In less than a year, Kitani and his executive team successfully refocused and realigned the Company's strategy, improving business development resulting in several key business wins, and initiated an extensive rebranding plan to help identify and better communicate IAP's core competencies and competitive advantage.
"At IAP, we listen carefully to the requirements of our government customers, applying ingenuity to solve problems and deliver solutions helping them fulfill their pledge to the nation," said Kitani. "This industry recognition is a credit to the leadership team – the incumbents and new executives who joined following the restructuring. We are working together toward a common goal in fulfilling our charter as a company: the only mission that is relevant is the customer mission; the most important location is the customer location; and success results from serving the customer and one another."
Kitani brings diverse leadership experience to IAP as a private equity investor and operating executive in the aerospace and defense industry and a former military officer. Prior to IAP, he was responsible for portfolio strategies at DynCorp International, where he led strategic planning and acquisitions while serving on the Boards of Joint Ventures including Axiam Limited, Defense Aviation Solutions, and Mission Readiness. He has more than 20 years of leadership experience after starting his career as a U.S. Army helicopter pilot following graduation from the U.S. Military Academy, West Point.
IAP maintains a culture of great respect for the armed services and a strong track record of hiring employees with military backgrounds. The Company is very committed to veteran causes including the health and wellbeing of those who served the Country, supporting veteran charities – such as Wounded Warrior Project, Special Operations Warrior Foundation, and Battle Buds. IAP was named a 2014 top Veteran-friendly company by U.S. Veterans magazine.
"Approximately 25% of our workforce are veterans, and many of our customers are active duty or retired military," said Kitani. "The skills and experiences veterans gained during their service to our country are invaluable to our business. We salute their service and welcome their dedication as employees, suppliers, and small business partners."
