IABC Cleveland Chapter Wins Award of Excellence for Professional Development
CLEVELAND, Feb. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- The Cleveland chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) earned an award of excellence for professional development in the 2010 Chapter Management Award (CMA) competition.
The CMA awards were announced at IABC's Leadership Institute conference recently held in San Diego, California. IABC was one of eight chapters earning awards of excellence.
IABC's CMA competition measures the leadership and management skills, creativity and teamwork of IABC chapter leaders worldwide. Awards are presented in three divisions—small, medium, and large chapters; within those divisions are eight categories: branding, membership, marketing, professional development, financial management, leadership development, communications, community involvement, and student involvement.
IABC Cleveland won the award based on its monthly programming, its annual Vision Awards honoring regional communication excellence, parity pricing with other organizations, and reduced rates for members who are between professional employment opportunities.
This is the second year in a row that IABC Cleveland's chapter management received an award. In 2009, the chapter won an award of excellence for its work in the student involvement category, including student outreach through its scholarship offering, and an award of merit in the membership marketing category for its ability to recruit and engage members.
Kavita Sherman, IABC Cleveland president, said, "We are pleased to have received this honor. It reflects the commitment and dedication of both the Cleveland chapter's board of directors and our more than 140 local members. Our board members work hard to provide programs and value-add activities to help Northeast Ohio's communicators succeed and grow. This award validates our activities and inspires us to want to work even harder for our members."
