FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., March 7, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- At the 2019 Smart Mobility Summit, Hyundai will display the technologically-advanced NEXO fuel cell SUV. NEXO will be showcased at the Wards Intelligence and C3 Group Smart Mobility Summit on March 9 from 2:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. at the Empire Garage in Austin; this is the NEXO's first appearance in the state of Texas.
Now in its fifth year in Austin, the Smart Mobility Summit will feature innovative technology demonstrations and interactive panel discussions. Among the vehicle displays will be the NEXO, the technological flagship of Hyundai's growing eco-vehicle portfolio, marking Hyundai's continued momentum and leadership with the industry's most diverse SUV lineup. Gil Castillo, senior group manager for Alternative Vehicle Strategy, Hyundai Motor America, will be onsite to demonstrate the cutting-edge technology features and answer technical questions about the eco-friendly vehicle.
"As consumers look to various transportation solutions for a cleaner environment, we recognize hydrogen energy as an important part of a more sustainable society," said Mike O'Brien, vice president, Product, Corporate and Digital Planning, Hyundai Motor America. "As an eco-focused transportation solution, only hydrogen fuel cells are fully scalable to infinite vehicle platform sizes. Even more, hydrogen fuel has the unique potential for locally-produced fuel production as part of a new energy economy. The NEXO Fuel Cell leads Hyundai's plans in the development of zero-emission vehicles and we are excited to introduce the NEXO to eco-focused Austin, celebrating the future of smart mobility and new technologies."
Outstanding Range
The NEXO Blue model has an estimated range of 380 miles, 115 more miles than the Tucson Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle. The NEXO Limited Trim has an estimated range of 354 miles. NEXO Blue models have estimated MPGe of 65 city, 58 highway and 61 combined, while NEXO Limited models have an estimated range of MPGe of 59 city, 54 highway and 57 combined. NEXO refueling time can be achieved in as little as five minutes, allowing a consumer lifestyle very similar to a comparable gasoline-powered SUV in terms of both range and refueling speed.
Eco Materials
NEXO uses a number of ecological materials in its construction, including soybean-oil based polyurethane paint, bamboo-thread-based bio fabric, along with bio-plastic and bio-carpet extracted from sugar cane.
