Hyundai Capital America Donates $25,000 In Food And Builds More Than Awareness To Fight Hunger
IRVINE, Calif., Dec. 2, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Hyundai Capital America (HCA), a top-10 U.S. auto finance company that does business as "Hyundai Motor Finance" and "Kia Motors Finance," continued the celebration of their 25th Anniversary with a donation of over $25,000 in canned food as part of a fun, company-wide competition.
Through a partnership with Canstruction®, a unique charity that hosts competitions and exhibitions showcasing structures built out of canned food, 10 teams of HCA employees worked with architects to design and build 10 different exhibitions in their Atlanta, Dallas, and Irvine locations.
Cumulatively, more than 135 employee volunteers stacked over 18,000 cans of food to create edifices ranging in design from a stout chef to the Egyptian Sphinx. The company posted photos of the structures on its intranet and externally on its LinkedIn page to let employees and followers vote for their favorite design. A Kia soul with the tagline "Food for the Soul" took the top prize—an additional $2,500 donation to the charitable cause of the winning team's choice.
After the competition, HCA donated the food—over 15,400 pounds worth—to food banks in the Atlanta, Dallas, and Orange County communities.
