HYPE Foundation Brings Innovation in Sports to the Taipei 2017 Summer Universiade
Event host, University of Taipei, made the announcement in a celebratory Press Conference
TAIPEI, August 4, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- University of Taipei and FISU, (The International University Sports Federation) joined the HYPE Foundation, a global platform that connects and invests in sports innovation, to conduct a global "Sports Innovation (SPIN) Final" competition. The news was officially announced yesterday, (August 3rd) during a press conference held at the University of Taipei. The SPIN Final will focus on disruptive innovations across all sports sectors and will take place on August 27, as part of the 2017 FISU World Conference on Development through Sport in the Taipei 2017 Summer Universiade Games. This competition will feature ten competing startups from all over the world, including Chinese Taipei, that will compete for first place. The winner will receive the grand prize - free one year membership at the Global Sports Innovation Center powered by Microsoft. Guests are invited to secure their seats here by August 15, 2017.
The press conference provided overview of the FISU World Conference on Development through Sport in the Taipei 2017 Summer Universiade, led by Dr. Hsia-Ling Tai, the President of the University of Taipei and also the Chairperson of the FISU Conference Organizing Committee. The conference will feature leading speakers from olympic athletes, academy, global sports federations, and will host the SPIN Final.

The HYPE Foundation's Global SPIN Final competition will take part in the opening day of "2017 FISU World Conference on Development through Sport" and will emphasize how innovation is rapidly changing and transforming the world of sports as we know it. After the conference Opening Ceremony, a networking and poster session will be conducted, where top sports innovative companies will showcase their products. Then the main competition will take place; ten chosen startups from six countries will pitch their products on stage and the esteemed jury will choose the "Most Innovative Startup in the World of Sports" for Taipei 2017 Summer Universiade games.
The jury panel that will select the SPIN Final winner, will include the Head of Jury, Prof. Paolo Bouquet from the University of Trento and FISU expert, Mr. Leopold Senghor, FISU Vice-President and Vice-Chair of the Education Committee, along with Mr. Simon Hsu, Project Director, BYOC Smart Products at Acer Inc., Prof. Li-Ju Chen and Prof. Tim T. Y. Ting from the University of Taipei and Mr. Mike Laflin, CEO of Sportcal.
