Hyde de Villaine Returns To Wilson Daniels Portfolio

The California joint family venture pairs two iconic winemaking families, Larry Hyde and Aubert de Villaine

ST. HELENA, Calif., June 10, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Wilson Daniels announces its renewed partnership with Hyde de Villaine (HdV). The Napa Valley winery, established in 2000, is a joint venture between Hyde vineyard manager Larry Hyde and director of the Domaine de la Romanee-Conti Aubert de Villaine. Wilson Daniels is currently launching in top US markets Hyde de Villaine Chardonnay and Belle Cousine, a Merlot-Cabernet Sauvignon blend from the Carneros district in California.

Aubert de Villaine, married to Larry Hyde's cousin Pamela, co-created the project between the Hyde and de Villaine families focused on making wines that define and illuminate the terroir of Hyde Vineyard. The families' extensive winemaking histories span four centuries where old world traditions coalesce with new world innovation.

Charles (AJ) Fairbanks, a cousin to the Hyde family and nephew to Aubert and Pamela, was called upon to join the family trade in 2006; as president he oversees all aspects of the winery operations. Winemaker Stephane Vivier has worked closely with Aubert and Larry since 2002 to implement the strictest viticultural and vinification techniques of France to the fruit of Hyde Vineyard.

Hyde de Villaine is bottled under the coat of arms of the historic de la Guerra family from which Pamela de Villaine and the Hydes descend. The de la Guerra family is one of the oldest winemaking families in California and traces its winemaking history back to a gold medal received at the 1876 Philadelphia Centennial Fair.
