Hy-Vee issues quality advisory on dips, sour cream
The company wants customers to know that recent shipments were incorrectly formulated, which might lead to premature spoilage of the product
WEST DES MOINES, Iowa, Aug. 30, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Hy-Vee, Inc. has issued an advisory for consumers regarding some packages of Hy-Vee label dips and sour cream.
The company has determined that some recent shipments of Hy-Vee dips and sour cream do not meet quality standards. These products may be subject to premature spoilage prior to the code date on the package.
Hy-Vee officials emphasized that there are no health risks associated with these products and unspoiled products are safe to consume. Hy-Vee has voluntarily elected to withdraw the affected products from the market at this time solely because the products do not meet the company's high standards for quality.
Affected products have been removed from Hy-Vee warehouses and store shelves. Customers who have recently purchased Hy-Vee brand dips or sour cream should check the product for mold or other signs of spoilage and return any spoiled product to their local stores for a refund.
Unfortunately, this market withdrawal means customers may encounter shortages or out-of-stocks until the manufacturer has a chance to produce new shipments that meet quality standards. Hy-Vee stores continue to carry other brands of dips and sour cream that will be available through the holiday weekend and into next week. Inventory levels of Hy-Vee dips and sour cream should be back to normal sometime next week.
The following products are subject to the quality advisory:

Hy-Vee Bacon Cheddar Dip, 8 oz.
Hy-Vee French Onion Dip, 8 oz.
