HUYA Bioscience International CEO, Mireille Gillings, Ph.D., Named As Gold Award Winner In 2015 American Business Awards(SM)
13th annual Stevie® Awards presented on June 22 in Chicago
SAN DIEGO, June 23, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- HUYA Bioscience International CEO and Executive Chairman, Mireille Gillings, Ph.D., has been named a Gold Stevie® Award Winner in the 'Woman of the Year, Health Products and Services & Pharmaceuticals' category in The 2015 American Business Awards.
The American Business Awards are considered the nation's preeminent business awards program. All organizations operating in the USA are eligible to submit nominations – public and private, for-profit and non-profit, large and small. More than 3,300 nominations from organizations of all sizes and in virtually every industry were submitted this year for consideration in a wide range of categories.
"Warmest congratulations to Mireille on this well-deserved recognition," said Clem Gingras, HUYA's Chief Technology Officer & Chief Operating Officer Asia. "As the first person to identify China's potential to meet global demand for innovative medicines, Mireille founded HUYA to increase the speed of development and value creation for China-sourced innovations in worldwide markets. The award acknowledges several major recent milestones that have been achieved by HUYA."
One major milestone was the initiation of clinical trials in Japan for HUYA's cancer drug HBI-8000, the first oral histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitor with immunomodulation properties. Japan's Pharmaceutical and Medical Devices Agency accepted HUYA's accelerated development strategy for HBI-8000, making unprecedented use of the China-Japan-South Korea Tripartite Cooperation to advance product development based on Chinese data. The drug was recently approved by the Chinese Food and Drug Administration; in China, the drug is marketed as Epidaza®. HUYA holds exclusive rights worldwide, excluding China. HBI-8000 is being developed for hematological malignancies and solid tumors.
Finalists were chosen by scores of business professionals nationwide during first-round judging in May. "So many fascinating and inspiring stories of success were submitted to the ABAs this year," said Stevie Awards president and founder Michael Gallagher. "We congratulate all of our 2015 Finalists on their achievements."
