DALLAS, May 24, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Panasonic System Communications Company of North America, a leading provider of advanced mobile technology and video evidence solutions for the government and public sector, is now the provider for body worn cameras for the Huntsville, Alabama Police Department.
"We're thrilled to be working with Panasonic as our body worn camera provider," said Mark McMurray, Chief of the Huntsville Police Department, which has three police precincts and 427 sworn officers. "We have been using their Arbitrator in-car cameras, and evidence management system since 2010 and adding the body worn cameras was an easy transition since our officers already understand and know the system. This decision is already allowing us to institute the new equipment quickly, helping the community to be a safer place."
The Huntsville Police Department has purchased 360 of the cameras and Panasonic's advanced Unified Evidence Management solution to ensure that video is easy to access when necessary.
"The Arbitrator body-worn camera is the next generation in evidence collection, featuring HD video; a compact and rugged design; and seamless integration with the industry's best back-end video evidence management system. The Huntsville Police Dept. is a great example of how Arbitrator body-worn cameras can help enhance existing Arbitrator camera systems and other equipment," said Panasonic Business Security Group VP Greg Peratt. "We are excited to work with Huntsville officers on the solution to support their mission of protecting life and property."
Mr. Peratt will discuss advanced evidence management at a "Lessons from the Field" presentation on May 25 at 9:30am at the IACP Law Enforcement Information Management Conference in Dallas. He will be available at the Panasonic booth #215 to discuss the solution, during the conference which opens on May 23.
The Huntsville Police Dept. has received full training on the Arbitrator system. The agency plans to have all of their uniformed officers equipped with Arbitrator Body Worn Cameras by the end of May, and a majority are already using them.
In addition to Huntsville, Panasonic is installing or has contracts to install body worn camera solutions at multiple law enforcement agencies across the country. Panasonic holds more than a 25% market share for law enforcement video evidence systems.
